Certified Home Health Aide (HHA) – Bronx, NY

VNS Westchester is seeking Certified Home Health Aides (HHAs) to join our care team. As an HHA, you’ll provide compassionate, hands-on care that helps clients remain safe, comfortable, and independent at home. Important: Applicants must be fluent in English and have an active New York State HHA certification — or be eligible for recertification — to be considered.

What You’ll Do as a Certified HHA

Assist clients with personal care: bathing, grooming, oral hygiene, and dressing
Take and record vital signs, report changes, and assist with medication reminders under nurse supervision
Provide mobility support: transfers, walking assistance, and help with mobility aids
Perform light housekeeping, laundry, dishwashing, and maintain a safe living environment
Communicate effectively with clients, families, and care teams, documenting all care provided
Follow infection control practices, maintain confidentiality, and complete required ongoing training

Qualifications

English fluency (speaking and understanding required)
Active New York State HHA Certification or eligibility for recertification
Reliable transportation
Authorization to work in the U.S.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality
Ability to prepare simple meals and perform light housekeeping
Completion of a NYS Department of Health–approved HHA training program (or equivalent)
Basic literacy and math skills
Must be 18 years or older
