Job Summary
The Home Health Aide provides personal care and related support services to clients in their homes under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or other licensed health professional. The HHA assists with activities of daily living (ADLs), promotes a safe and healthy living environment, and contributes to the well-being and independence of the client.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist clients with personal care tasks, including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and hygiene.
- Support clients with mobility and transfers, using proper techniques and equipment as needed.
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals based on dietary guidelines and assist with feeding when required.
- Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a safe and clean environment, including laundry and bed-making.
- Monitor and report changes in clients' physical, mental, or emotional condition to the supervising nurse.
- Provide companionship and engage clients in activities to enhance emotional well-being and mental stimulation.
- Follow infection control and safety procedures to ensure the health and safety of clients and caregivers.
- Document services provided and maintain accurate records in compliance with agency standards and regulatory requirements.
- Adhere to care plans and provide services in alignment with client preferences and needs.
- Participate in agency-provided training and development programs to ensure compliance with Pennsylvania regulations and best practices.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a state-approved Home Health Aide training program and competency evaluation.
- Current certification as a Home Health Aide in Pennsylvania (or eligibility for certification).
- Current CPR certification (must meet in-person training standards; online certifications are not accepted).
- Familiarity with basic caregiving techniques, including personal care, mobility assistance, and infection control.
- Ability to understand and respect client rights, confidentiality, and ethical standards.
- Clear criminal background check, as required by Pennsylvania law.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.
