**Job Title: Alternate Clinical Manager (Alternate DON)**

**Reports To:** Clinical Manager, Administrator
**Job Summary:**
The Alternate Clinical Manager assists the Clinical Manager in managing and coordinating clinical operations in a healthcare facility. This position ensures high standards in patient care, staff management, and compliance with regulatory requirements. The Alternate Clinical Manager will work closely with nursing staff, other departments, and administrators to promote quality patient outcomes and a positive environment for both staff and residents.
**Key Responsibilities:**
1. **Leadership and Staff Management:**
- Assist in the selection, training, and evaluation of nursing staff.
- Provide mentorship and support to nursing staff, fostering professional development.
- Oversee daily operations in the absence of the Director of Nursing.
- Create and sustain a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and communication.
2. **Clinical Oversight:**
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care by monitoring clinical practices and patient outcomes.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Conduct regular rounds to assess patient needs and address concerns.
3. **Regulatory Compliance:**
- Maintain knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local regulations to ensure compliance.
- Assist in preparing for inspections and surveys by accrediting bodies.
- Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives.
4. **Documentation and Reporting:**
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care and nursing activities.
- Prepare reports for the Director of Nursing detailing clinical and operational issues.
- Monitor compliance with care standards and implement necessary changes.
5. **Communication and Collaboration:**
- Facilitate effective communication among nursing staff, patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Participate in staff meetings, committees, and training sessions as required.
- Address and resolve conflicts or concerns raised by staff, patients, or families.
6. **Strategic Planning:**
- Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures related to nursing operations.
- Contribute to the budgeting and resource management for the nursing department.
- Identify areas for improvement and recommend actionable strategies.
**Qualifications:**
- **Education:** Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) is required; Master's degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration is preferred.
- **Licensure:** Current and valid RN license.
- **Experience:** Minimum of 3-5 years of nursing experience, including supervisory roles in a clinical setting.
- **Skills:**
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in electronic medical records (EMR) and other healthcare-related software.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
**Working Conditions:**
- Primarily office-based work with potential for exposure to clinical settings.
- May require occasional evening or weekend hours based on staffing needs and organizational requirements.
