Job Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides compassionate, person-centered care and support to individuals in various settings, including community environments, family homes, and individual residences. This role includes assisting with daily living activities, providing rehabilitative and therapeutic training, and enhancing the health, safety, and dignity of those served.
Key Responsibilities
- Support individuals in achieving goals and outcomes as outlined in their Person-Centered Plan/Individual Support Plan (ISP).
- Provide personal care, instruction, guidance, mentoring, and companionship.
- Assist with activities of daily living, including feeding, bathing, dressing, and toileting.
- Prepare or assist with preparing meals that meet dietary needs and promote good health.
- Facilitate rehabilitative and therapeutic activities to help individuals achieve outcomes/goals.
- Document progress toward outcomes/goals in daily progress reports.
- Interact with individuals in community, family, or home settings to encourage independence and engagement.
- Ensure the health, safety, and dignity of individuals served across all activities.
Qualifications
- Must be trained on ISPs of all individuals supported.
- Completion of 24 hours of agency-mandated annual training.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Two (2) years of experience working with individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities preferred.
